Sun Damage

Sun Damage

How the Sun can Damage your Skin

Exposure, whether prolonged or not, to the sun causes much of the changes to our skin that we think of as a normal part of ageing. Over time, the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) light damages the elastin in your skin. When the elastin breaks down, the skin begins to sag, stretch, and lose its ability to ‘bounce back’.

Sun damage can be as benign as mild melasma or as serious as melanoma. At best it can leave your skin with an uneven tone, darker areas, freckles, and wrinkles. At worst, skin cancer. Prevention and covering up is always best, but for already damaged skin, we can help with the appearance.
