What is Microdermabrasion?
A deep-exfoliating treatment, microdermabrasion refreshes dull skin by buffing the dead surface layer away to help reveal the fresh new skin underneath.
Specially designed machines gently ‘sandblast’ the skin, then draw away loosened debris. Your skin’s natural rejuvenation process can be stimulated, as the action encourages collagen production, stimulates the growth of new cells, and unclogs pores – helping to give you smoother, fresher and more youthful-looking skin.
These days, microdermabrasion treatments are widely available, but not all treatments are equal! Whilst it is a relatively gentle treatment, it is imperative the clinician performing yours is experienced and qualified, to ensure your treatment gets you the best results, and doesn’t injure your skin.
At The Cosmetic Clinic, we offer a signature, 11-step procedure performed by our highly experienced and fully qualified technicians. They will carefully assess your skin type and concerns and adapt your treatment to suit.
- Cleanse
We double cleanse your skin to prepare it for treatment. The first cleanse can remove makeup and debris from the skin. We then cleanse a second time with an Purifying cleanser, to begin loosening the dead skin cells.
- Exfoliation
Skin is massaged using a triple action scrub, to help further loosen the dead skin cells.
- Mask and Steam
A Fruit Enzyme Mask is applied with steam. The combination of Papaya Enzymes and Lactic Acid in the mask help to prepare the skin for the microdermabrasion by breaking down any remaining dead cells, while the steam works to soften the skin, ensuring a more thorough treatment.
- Microdermabrasion
Skin is treated in three passes using our industry-leading diamond head microdermabrasion machines, removing all remaining dead cells to help reveal fresh, healthy skin.
- Extraction
Using a micro-lance needle or sterile purette, we carefully work across your skin to remove any remaining millia, blackheads and congestion, to help ensure your skin is looking fresh and clear.
- Peel
A post-treatment peel, carefully selected to specifically work with your skin type, is applied to help enhance collagen production.
- Eye Cream & Massage
An eye cream is applied with a soothing massage to assist with lymphatic drainage, reducing puffiness as well as hydrating the delicate eye area.
- Nourish
Now those dead cells are out of the way, it’s time to feed your skin. A Vitamin B or Vitamin C Serum is chosen depending on your skin needs, and applied, adding nutrients, leaving your skin glowing.
- Hydration
A healing balm or Hyaluronic Acid is chosen for your specific skin type, and applied to help hydrate your skin.
- Protection
Sun protection is your best friend when it comes to preventing the visible signs of ageing. To complete your treatment, our Aesthetics Rx Ultra Protection Sunscreen with zinc is applied to treated skin to help defend it from NZ’s harsh sunlight.
