Treatments, for both the face and the body, helps to reduce the appearance of sun damage, age spots, and freckles. Our latest technology lasers target, then fragment, the selected imperfection, without damaging surrounding tissue.

48 Hours Prior
- No cosmetic injections in the treatment area.
- No numbing cream to be applied to the treatment area.
3 Days Prior
- Stop using cosmeceutical retinol and AHA/BHA.
2 Weeks Prior
- Topical prescription retinol / whitening/ steroidal creams must be stopped two weeks prior.
- Must not have an active cold sore.
- No waxing, laser, threading, tweezing or IPL in the area.
- No fake tan.
- No recent sun exposure and sunbeds.
2-4 Weeks Prior
- You must ensure to apply the recommended Balense &/ Aesthetics Rx Skincare products to strengthen & hydrate the skin reducing the risk of adverse reactions, such as irritation, inflammation & hyperpigmentation prescribed by your therapist.
We cannot treat if you are;
- Pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Taking medication that contains Isotretinoin. If you have taken Accutane, or any other acne drug, laser should be avoided for six months after use has ceased.
- We cannot treat over metal plates or pins.
Immediately Post Treatment
- Apply the recommended Balense Jelli Recovery Laser Gel as required.
Use Balense UV Defiance SPF 50+.
12 Hours Post
- Do not pick the skin as this could lead to hyper/hypopigmentation or scarring.
24 Hours Post
- Keep cool.
- Keep hydrated, increase water intake to 8 glasses per day.
- Avoid steam, saunas and spa pools.
- Avoid exercise and swimming.
- Avoid any activities that would cause excessive perspiration.
1-3 Days Post
- Use Balense Bouncee Repair Cleanser, recommended Balense Jelli Recovery Laser Gel to help reduce redness, inflammation & heat that remains in the skin, and UV Defiance SPF 50+.
5 Days Post
- Post treatment resume with personalised prescription of Balense or Aesthetics Rx homecare.
- Gently exfoliate using Balense Enzy Repair Exfoliant.
7 Days Post
- Do not apply any topical prescription creams to the treated area for 7 days.
- No cosmetic injectable treatments for 4 weeks post treatment.
- Avoid sun exposure and sunbeds.

What causes pigmentation on the skin?
Pigmentation occurs when there is an excess of melanin, the pigment that gives skin its colour, in certain areas, leading to darkened spots or patches.
What are the common causes of pigmentation?
The most common causes are sun exposure and genetics. Pigmentation can also be triggered by hormonal changes, such as during pregnancy or when taking the contraceptive pill.
Is Laser Pigmentation removal permanent?
If the recommended post-treatment procedures are followed and the treated area is cared for and correctly maintained, then the pigmentation is unlikely to return. Pigmentation caused by sun exposure may gradually reappear over time however SPF and tyrosinase inhibitors can significantly reduce this.
Does Laser Pigmentation removal hurt?
The laser targets the surface of the skin, so some discomfort may be felt during the treatment. The treated area may feel similar to a sunburn for up to 48 hours afterward. To help soothe the skin, cold packs and the recommended aftercare can be used to reduce redness and inflammation.
How will the skin react?
After the treatment, the pigmentation may initially appear darker and could continue to deepen for up to 48 hours. Following this, the pigmentation will start to form a crust and gradually flake off. This healing process can take up to 14 days, depending on the skin’s condition before the treatment.
How many laser treatments are needed for pigmentation removal?
The number of treatments varies between 2 to 6 sessions, depending on the type, colour, and depth of the pigmentation, as well as your skin condition however complete removal may not always be possible, as results depend on the type, location, and colour of the pigmentation.
Are there any required products I need to use before the treatment process?
All clients receiving Laser for Pigmentation at The Cosmetic Clinic must prepare their skin 2-4 weeks before their laser treatment to ensure safety and optimal results. The following products will be required:
Tyrosinase Inhibitor
Helps prevent the transfer of melanin to skin cells, reducing pigmentation. We recommend Aesthetics Rx Ultimate Serum.
Exfoliator
Helps increase cell turnover to minimise dark spots for a smoother, even toned complexion. Aesthetics Rx Refining Mousse Cleanser or ARx Bio Fermented Triple Action Scrub.
Sunscreen
Protects skin from harmful UV rays, aids collagen formation, and helps maintain healthy moisture levels in the skin. We recommend Aesthetics Rx Face & Body Sunscreen SPF50 or Balense UV Defiance SPF50.
